Pastor Rick continues a verse-by-verse study through the book of Genesis. Chapter four begins by describing the birth of the first two children born to Adam and Eve. What follows is the tragic tale of Cain and Abel. Both grew up worshipping God; one according to God’s commands and one as he thought best. Cain’s response to God’s rejection of his self-willed offering and the subsequent murder of his brother Abel are all the evidence we need that sin has fully entered the human heart. Our society today is following the way of Cain. How do we as Christians find our God-ordained purpose in this sin-wrecked world? Genesis is the book of beginnings. Within the fifty chapters that make up this fascinating book of the Old Testament God exercises His creative power to bring the universe into existence by simply telling it to do so. Later we will see the creation of a special people with the calling of Abram. The Law is given later.
